New initiative "Keystone" launches to connect Lewisham's young people to the opportunities shaping their future

Updated: 6 days ago

A new initiative launching in Lewisham is aiming to tackle one of the most significant challenges facing young people today: access.

Developed by Renegade Production in partnership with Blue Garage and Christ The King Sixth Forms, Keystone is building a new opportunity ecosystem that connects education, industry, enterprise and regeneration.

As Lewisham prepares to undergo profound and inevitable change, Keystone aims to ensure local young people are not simply bystanders to transformation, but active participants in it.

By bringing education providers, employers, entrepreneurs, community organisations and developers together, Keystone will create direct pathways between young people and the networks, skills, experiences and opportunities that increasingly shape career outcomes and social mobility.

Schools and colleges across the UK are facing growing challenges in securing meaningful employer engagement and work experience opportunities and the *vast majority of SMEs, startups and sole traders lack the time, resources and infrastructure to participate effectively, if at all.

Keystone has been designed to bridge that gap.

Starting with a coordinated programme of employer encounters, workplace visits, industry insight days, mentoring, work-based learning and placements piloted through local innovation hub Blue Garage, the initiative will provide young people with greater access to professional environments, entrepreneurial space and high-value networks while helping businesses to engage with emerging talent in practical and manageable ways.

Beyond education and employment outcomes, Keystone also seeks to address a broader challenge facing communities across London and the UK: ensuring that local people benefit from the opportunities created by regeneration, investment and economic growth.

By creating stronger links between young people, employers, local businesses and industries, the initiative will strengthen social mobility, support talent development and contribute to more inclusive economic growth.

This is just the beginning.
